Hello, we are environmental consulting interns at Arup. We are five members including; Choinova. V, Jouanneau. C, Lecleire. J,  Martinovic. M and Meignan. E.

 

We are excited about this opportunity to help with local residential development and will be addressing any building issue within this 0.5km2 area of North-western Mikkeli, shown below.

Unfortunately, after investigations, an illegal waste dump area was discovered, requiring a look into the different waste treatment options and reasons for the dumping.

Currently, the different types of waste found have been oil paint, cotton t-shirts, medical waste (infected sharps: syringe), wooden tables and metal cans.

We aim to resolve this in the next few weeks through intensive research, considering local legal requirements. We will investigate waste collection and sorting in the area, along with waste labelling and waste treatment. Different options for the waste treatment will be explored, considering the waste hierarchy. And finally, the site will be surveyed for renovations.

We look forward to starting this journey and hope to be part of some important changes regarding waste in the community!
